This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Kyle Gavin who was our gift on January 15, 1996 and sadly left us on July 15, 2008 at the age of 12 of a rare disease called Acute Hemorrhagic Leukoencephalitis. It was a shock to all. He was a healthy boy, then one day he couldn't stop vomitting, and 10 days later, he passed away.He was born in Worcester,Ma. Kyle graduated from Jacob Hiatt Magnet School in June 2008 and was planning to attend St.Peter Marian Junior/senior High School in August 2008. Kyle leaves behind his mom and dad and his younger brother Bryce and lots of family and friends. Kyle made such a huge impact on so many people in such a short time. He will truly be missed forever. We will all get to see that smile again someday.

We would love to thank all of Kyle's family and his friends who came to celebrate his 5th anniversary with us. It was so nice to see his close friends and how much they have grown over the past 5 years....Also it was great to see some of the family that we haven't seen in awhile. We celebrated Kyle's love of life with reading some letters we received after Kyle had gone to heaven from his teacher and his B-Ball coach and a recent letter we received from one of the doctors that took care of Kyle the week before he went to heaven along with 2 beautifully writtens letters from Ashley Sweeney ( Kyle's cousin ) and Pat Gavin ( Kyle's Grandmother ) and we followed that with a balloon release with messages written on them. Because of the humidity only a few balloons out of the 70 or so released didn't get up into the air but as you all know Kyle was probably trying to be a funny guy and blowing them back down to us with that unforgettable smile he had...again thank you all for your support and love you have given us over these last 5 years without all of you to talk to us about Kyle or just give us a hug or tell us a story about a time you spent with Kyle...I honestly don't know where we would be right now....Love Dan, Cheryl and Bryce Gavin

We would like to congratulate Julia Pasquale and Mare Gallager for being the recepients of the 2012 Kyle Gavin Memorial Spirit Award presented by the Worcester Youth Flag Football League.
I awoke so early at the dawn of the new day,
Hoping the nightmare would just go away,
But the tears started flowing, as they did the night before,
Why did you leave me? What was this for?
I thought I couldn't face another broken day,
I hated the reality that you were taken away,
It's just not fair that this has happened to us,
And it started to scare me that I had lost my trust,
So I looked to the heavens and I asked God "Why"?
Why in the world would a child have to die?
I didn't get an answer that day or the next,
And, I guess looking back; the question was too complex,
It took a while to realize that you weren't really gone,
That as long as I was breathing your spirit would live on,
So life took on a different meaning, I was living for us both,
Two souls inside one body, two spirits and one host.
Now, with every breath I take, I take for me and you,
And with every song I sing, I'm singing it for two,
And there's no doubt in my mind, with the prayers that
I have prayed,
That the wings that you are wearing, grow larger every day.
The strength that you are giving me, on my journey
here on earth,
Reflects through me, back at you, on your journey of rebirth,
Stand strong by God, you're in good hands,
and I'll stand strong as well,
And together we'll journey through these lives,
in each others hearts, two lives parallel.
We would like to congratulate Kahalia Saunders on being the recepient of the 2011 Kyle Gavin Memorial Spirit Award presented by the Worcester Youth Flag Football League.
Birthdays do not end with death,
But last as long as love,
A maelstrom of memories
That grace and honor move.
And so we celebrate your day
By visiting your grave,
A place that you have left long since,
But is all that we have.
Dear spirit, come and join us here,
Your loved ones by your stone!
Come sweep across the barrier
To claim us as your own!
Happy birthday, dearest one!
Oh, happy, happy day!
Not even the most bitter night
Can take this joy away!

Sometimes I grieve so deeply
That I can hardly breathe
One look at your photograph
And the pain begins to ease
Sometimes I grieve so softly
That it hardly hurts at all
One look at your photograph
And the pain begins to call
No matter how I grieve for you
The one thing you'll always find
Is day or night, heavy or light
You're ALWAYS on my mind
If There Are Roses In Heaven
Will You Send One Just For Me
So I Can Hold It Close To My Heart
Where You Will Always Be
I Will Lay It On My Pillow Each Night
As The Angels Tuck Me In
I Will Know That You Are Near Me
And Feel Your Presence Once Again
I Am Thankful For All The Years
You Were There To Help Me Through
I Will Always Remember “My Precious Brother”
Whose Love Was Honest And True!
Last night while I was trying to sleep,
My son's voice I did hear
I opened my eyes and looked around,
But he did not appear.
He said:"Mom you've got to listen,
You've got to understand
God didn't take me from you, mom
He only took my hand.
When I called out in pain that night,
The instant that I died,
He reached down and took my hand,
And pulled me to His side.
He pulled me up and saved me
From the misery and pain.
My body was hurt so badly inside,
I could never be the same.
My search is really over now,
I've found happiness within,
All the answers to my empty dreams
And all that might have been.
I love you all and miss you so,
And I'll always be nearby.
My body's gone forever,
But my spirit will never die!
And so, you must all go on now,
Live one day at a time.
God did not take me from you,
He only took my hand.
Hey mom do you know they have baseball in heaven
I pitched for the "Angels" on my first day
Moses was a bit annoyed I got caught "stealing"
He said they don't do that here . . .
Hey mom did you know they ski in heaven
We ride atop the tallest clouds
Holding our wings in very close
We make a swooshing sound
You call it "wind" down there . . .
Hey mom do you know they have cable TV here
I get to watch all the neat stuff I could ever want
They even have the Si Fi channel
That me and dad always enjoyed so much . . .
There's pizza to eat all through the day
Man . . . the girls are all awesome and cute
I wear the coolest Air Jordan's
And I never miss a basket when I shoot
About the girls . . . the no kissing on the first date thing sorta bothers me . .
Hey mom do you know they have dogs in heaven
I got one today his name is Jake
He follows me everywhere I go
And likes to lick my face
So mom I guess what I am trying to say
Is that things really aren't so bad
I miss you and the family a lot at times
I miss the guy stuff I did with dad. . .
I do have some good news though . . .
At night when you fall asleep
God said I can talk to you in your dreams
So those times I show up and we laugh and play
They are as real as they actually seem
Promise you'll talk back to me okay ( I can hear you when you pray) . . .
Hey mom do you know they have baseball in heaven
Oh that's right I said that before
I hit a homer just a while ago
Abraham and Gabriel came in for a score . . .
A camera man came close to get my picture
Just like they do for the pro's on TV
I had the biggest smile you've ever seen
I put my face close to the lens
It was huge and filled the screen
Do you know what I said?
Of course you do . . .
I looked in it and said . . .
" Hi mom!"
Mom, please don’t feel guilty
It was just my time to go.
I see you are still feeling sad,
And the tears just seem to flow.
We all come to earth for our lifetime,
And for some it’s not many years
I don’t want you to keep crying
You are shedding so many tears.
I haven’t really left you
Even though it may seem so.
I have just gone to my heavenly home,
And I’m closer to you than you know.
Just believe that when you say my name
I’m standing next to you,
I know you long to see me,
But there’s nothing I can do.
But I’ll still send you messages
And hope you understand,
That when your time comes to “cross over,”
I’ll be there to take your hand.
God I know you gave your precious Son
To give us life with You.
But we didn’t want our son to leave
Cause he was precious too.
We all are special in your eyes
And all to you return.
We know our son will not come back
And for this our hearts still yearn.
Our time on earth is for learning
And when our lessons are through
Our Lord will choose the time we leave
And we come back to you.
Our precious son is with you
And there will be a day
That we too will leave this earth
And you will light our way.
His arms will be wide open
And the wait will be worthwhile
When we see again our precious son
And the splendor of his smile
You think because he’s a man he shouldn’t feel the pain,
of having his heart broken and tears that fall like rain.
Men you say are stronger and never show their fears,
they don’t let life destroy them, a fortress through the years.
Let me tell you of a battle waged daily on this dad,
leaving his heart in shreds with no happiness to be had.
Death came to call and took his loving son,
it left his heart broken, his world undone.
This battle has him crying and crawling on his knees,
if you listen you can hear him begging, "Why God, please?"
He sees what it has done to his children and his wife,
as they live daily with grief’s never ending strife.
Now his closest friend, his son, lives beyond the sky,
and when death comes to take your child..... even strong men cry
